On 22th march, ALCYONE is anchored again n SOUTH CORONADO, about 7 miles away from LORETO: A nice place with a special interest (what a shame for a cruiser) : an internet connection:

Our original plan is to continue to sail BAJA northward and enjoy best cruising conditions until mid of May.  At this time, ALCYONE should be be lifted for several months on the  dry dock of ASTILLEROS CABRALES in the fishing harbour of PUERTO PENASCO.

This fishing harbour is located in the top north of BAJA, out of the hurricane belt. West mexican hurricane season is officially starting on 1st june and, following an absolute rule, we never cruise in the hurricane zone during hurricane season. We also wish to come back home in France as ALCYONE

continuously cruise since our departure from New Zealand... in spring 2019 !

Some friends advise us "to stay on the water where we are", as they are already enjoying in FRANCE the phase 3 of the covid-19 fight...why not ?

Its true that we can live 1 year+ on board of ALCYONE, even without landing in a harbour: We have unlimited solar energy, a reliable watermaker, there are plenty of fishes easy to spear and a lot of food inside the catamaran...but things are not so simple...

Covid-19 create a worldwar now, we don't feel anymore to be a part of the BAJA nature but from the human world: There is a war and we begin to feel very guilty not to participate !

Anyway, we still have the plan to leave with our 22th may flight, with the dream to escape MEXICO before the virus war and return to France after...a dream !

We continue northward, but the need of information operate like a hard drug for us; we use early night starts n engine to avoid the daily North wind to reach the next internet connection 65 miles in the North, in SANTO DOMINGO, in BAHIA CONCEPCION, with 2 stops before:

- SAN JUANICO again with our last direct cruiser's contact : famous SSB operator Dough,who spend here with his wife Linda on board of"QUE LINDA" a big part of his cruising time,.

- PUNTA PULPITO , 10 miles more north a perfect Northern protection, my last NIKON safari...

Not too much garbage in BAJA, but some learned how to recycle it !

In 5 seconds, all these small ducks ll disappear one after the other under the surface ...

In spring, winds are are less strong, but mostly still from the north !

PUNTA PULPITO, 10 miles only in the North  is a wild place and a perfect protection from north wind !

Showing again a cohabitation between different seabirds...

Water is warmer n clear enough,  spearfishing is productive here.

Dinghy ride and walk on shore are also is rewarding...

A bit of night motoring in calm help us to reach next anchorage of SANTO DOMINGO in BAHIA CONCEPCION...

This anchorage, just outside of BAHIA CONCEPTION is a bit exposed...

...but we can connect again the internet of MULEGE  to check the situation of the  the covid-19 worldwar...
