1904 NZ->AUSTRAL 1 (22->26 avril) "SOFT START" 694m
Wheather forecast is ok for the next 3 days n
nothing
wrong

appear further on both GFS n competitor model...
there are
no reasons to wait

more to leave:
Biggest Danger is a strong depression or a late cyclone that can appear until mid may in the NW and move SSE, crossing our eastbound track, but we think the speed of the cat can avoid this…
We leave with Code O in light NW winds

but air is not stable n very soon we learn how quick the wheather situation can change.
If the days offer pleasant sailing, we got squalls as early as from the second night: 2nd reef become the norm; the sea is confused, apparent wind peak more than 30 k n it's chilly enough to avoid waking up the buddy in the dark...On 26, a dep appear on NW, crossing our track; we just decide to let it go before us as no chance to sail quicker n good probability of pushing wind on the back...we brake, then we drift, concentrate on gastronomie... and sleep very well.
22 april after clearance in Marsden cove: "Au revoir" Whangarei heads

With a very soft start, Galley was the first focus as Jordan is also a big eater
Telegraph cucumber n red cabbage..
.

Jordan saving water too...imagine the mutilation as I finished the haircut
Air is obviously instable as this phenomen is not the only one..
.

On second day, ALCYONE is finding is path in a maze of squalls, radar helps to track them.
Classic drama: This charming family ll not survive: They believed ALCYONE was making a nearby island cruise...
They all graciously fly 3 days around us but apparent wind changed; it's become more difficult to reach the cat ...

So far from the coast, they have no chance to come back, neither on board: we know it but another time we tried...
How staying indifferent to that ?
I could get the last bird, exhausted , in my hand on 4th day...

A
super nest with wind protection, weetabix n water...but the bird did nt touch anything...
...and shortly after this picture, he try a last flight n die immediatly after...
