1810 NC BEAUTEMPS-BEAUPRE
Do not anchor BEAUTEMPS BEAUPRE without a visit to St Joseph tribe in Ouvea. This remote island belong to their territory; this world belong also to nature in the air and numerous birds welcome you; they prepare the new flying generation onshore. Main anchorage in front of the beach is ok for 2-3 boats; access is a bit narrow and not straight among the coral patchess but ok with perfect visibility; anyway with such a wheather, the huge lagoon offer other alternatives . We find our first boat in the place, a long monohull with a nice american atypic couple searching micro aquarium fishes. Ourside, we find only one lobster despite an intensive search on the windward side but the fishes don't disappoint us with tropical dorados and emperors around isolated patches in the lagoon. The game is as always to bring them on board before grey sharks eat them. they are very healthy here and so quick than we have to fish not further than 20 meters away from dinghy to have a chance. The full fridge allow us to pay a visit to one of both isolated sandspit in the north.
We fully aware to be lucky to enjoy n use all food nature still offer to us here and we never catch more than we can eat... This is also possible anyway because visitors are rare, but we also fully understand that these remote places ll be protected one day...
First cruiser to share anchorage with from Mouly

Such coralpatches protect the quite shallow main anchorage
"7 doigts", fortunatly for them no so easy to spot when on coral bottom
Good size "Bec de canne" not far from the surface in windward side of lagoon

Mekoua is an usually very shy fish but this one was shot with Alain... with arrows from 2 different directions
Not quick enough spearfishing just feed these hungry guys...
Tropical dorado one of the best fish available in these waters

Attractive but well protected sanspit
Philipe: "This remote sandpit is for me alone" ...
...But please don't forgett to pick me up for the night !
