The LAU islands group was off limit for cruisers in 2003 during our fisrt visit in FIJI, but this group of island is now open from a few years ; we miss it last year: for the first experience of ALCYONE, cat and crew were not ready but this tear discover Lau islands is the major reason to come back to FIJI ...To late ?

If I believe"it's never too late to live a first experience" , 2016 mark a turnpoint to visit FULAGA, the nicest Lau island as a rallye brought a lot of boats there in 2017.

Can we blame the cruisers to bring so many gifts to the islanders ?

Can we blame the islanders to organize themselves to live from this ?

At least ALCYONE belong to the first 3 boats arrived in FULAGA in 2018: using a good window from SUVA, we entered in the clear pass and anchored alone very closed to it.

Next day we went with the dinghy to the village to bring our Kava...

Wahou ! Smiles everywhere and a family was choiced to take care of us...no special positive reaction when I gave a small gift with hooks n ecological light, this was not at level of expectation....but we were encouraged to buy fruits, handicraft etc...even to accept the 2 boys to bring the baskets in our dinghy...we paid with smile n never came back to the village even during our second trip.

Beginning of season bring a lot on this island: Less visitors as we could not see the 2 others cruisers except on our walk onshore to the main village, changing weather from last depressions but also pure calm, wich is impossible to enjoy later with estabished trade wind.

FULAGA is the nicest island with unic palmtrees micro islands, numerous protected anchorage possibilities,  and a huge lagoon you can explore with the dinghy and still good fishing spots.

Waiting a good window from SUVA is the easiest way to reach FULAGA...

A world of caution:  west coast of KABARA with numerous coral patches

Main village of FULAGA: 3rd visitor of the year...buisness is ready

Is it really what you are expecting in such a remote island ?

Such a Smiling proposal for an unusefull  delivery...can we avoid it ?

This wreck was a few years ago a free moving boat... but now islanders must pay the gas for their outboards...

Time to explore the large space with the dinghy

Delicious tropical doradas

FULAGA: Real paradise if you don't mind to be  controlled all the time...Can we blame the locals for that ?
