The "coutume" is not always practiced in Ouvea but this belong to the tradition as the kava in FIJI.

the "Pleiades"islands are controlled by 2 tribes and this is a big mistake to forget to do it if you want to anchor another place than in front of the hotel. The weather improve n we really want to anchor everywhere  we can in the "South as in the north  Pleiades " island ; if you anchor there without authorisation and  "forget"coutume", locals can chase you a very bad way.

Anyway "Faire coutume"- if you have time- is not a bad experience and locals appreciate a lot . A small boubou (pareo) n any fishing gift is appreciated as my ecological flashlight.

Never land to Ouvea without a short walk to "Pont de Mouly", for me one of the 3 best spots in the world: You can spend hours watching from this bridge huge creatures feeding in the turquoise waters of the stream , including rays, sharks n turtles.

This time we rented 3 bikes in the hotel to meet Mouly's chief Edouard

We found him working outside his home, he accepted the gift  n we had a good local lunch in the restaurant of his daughter Deborah; we could also pick some pow pow on the ride back.

Perfect tourists in the cruiser"s friendly hotel, just in front of the anchorage

Welcome to paradise : Pont de Mouly: hypnotic place

You ll see fishes all the time, but a day without wind
